The chasing is the bottleneck
Ask any practice where the hours go before a deadline and the answer is rarely the accounting. It's getting the records out of clients: sending the list, receiving half of it, spotting the statement for the wrong month, writing back, waiting, and doing it all again for the next client.
That work is unbilled, it lands on your most expensive people at your busiest time, and it scales with every client you add.
What Nuncily takes off the team
- The requests. Each client is asked for exactly what their return or quarter needs, not a generic checklist.
- The checking. Each file is read as it arrives and checked for the right document, the right period, every page, and legibility.
- The re-asking. Anything missing or wrong is raised in the same conversation, straight away.
- The chasing. Clients who've gone quiet get specific, well-timed follow-ups until they're done.
- The list. Partners see which clients are complete, which are being chased, and which genuinely need an accountant's judgment.
The same problem, market by market
United Kingdom: Making Tax Digital
Since April 2026, sole traders and landlords with qualifying income over £50,000 have had to keep digital records and send HMRC quarterly updates. The threshold falls to £30,000 in April 2027 and to £20,000 in April 2028, bringing well over a million more taxpayers into scope. Quarterly reporting means quarterly chasing, four times a year instead of once. See how Nuncily handles MTD quarterly records.
United States: tax season
Individual federal returns are generally due in mid-April, with partnership and S corporation returns due in mid-March. Extensions move the filing date, not the work of collecting W-2s, 1099s, receipts and statements from clients, which still piles up in the first months of the year.
Canada
Most individual returns are due at the end of April. Self-employed individuals generally have until mid-June to file, but any balance is still due at the end of April, so the paperwork is needed early either way.
Australia
The financial year ends on 30 June. Practices lodging through a tax agent program spread the work across the year, but every lodgement still starts with collecting the client's records.
Built for how practices actually work
Nuncily doesn't ask you to move clients onto new software. Clients reply on WhatsApp or email, the way they already talk to you, and your team keeps working in the systems it knows. A person stays in the loop for anything that needs professional judgment.
Getting started
Most practices start with one workflow on the Practice plan, usually the collection that costs them the most hours each quarter.
